You might be wondering where Ellen and Matt have been hiding. After all, it’s been five years since their first CD, Best Friends, was met with praise from critics and fans alike. But they’ve been busier than ever touring the far corners of Los Angeles and raising their three boys!

And you’ll be glad that they’ve been spending so much time with their dudes, because those very same kids were their greatest source of inspiration for their new CD, It’s Love.

The biggest challenge with writing the new CD was, simply, finding the time,” Ellen says. “Between school, work, sports, homework, dinner time, laundry, and everything else, when it came time to writing together, we really had to draw from what we know…which is exactly those things, those day-to-day experiences that make up a family.”

It’s these very subjects: all of the joys a playground can bring to a child; the occasional run to the drive thru for dinner; the wonder of a child looking at his shadow, or a new animal at the zoo…that have been brought to life in Ellen and Matt’s songs. And they haven’t left their “kindie” sensibilities behind.

We always aim to write songs that the parents will like, but that their kids can relate to,” Matt explains. “So we tap into our favorite influences…bands like Big Star, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, 70s arena rock, funk and a little punk. We write what we like, and hope that everyone else will like it, too.

Sit back and enjoy Ellen and Matt’s unique breed of “kindie rock music for generations X, Y, Z…and beyond.” Better yet, get up on your feet and bounce along with them!
