Lori Henriques

Inspired by the belief that singing to children is singing to people, Lori Henriques writes about real feelings. Her songs about the joys and challenges of growing up appeal to all ages. Her first album of original songs, Outside My Door, has received warm reviews from Zooglobble, Out With The Kids, Parents' Choice, and The Washington Post. Parents' Choice gave it a Gold Award, and both Zooglobble and Absolutely Mindy of Sirius XM's Kids' Place Live included it in their favorite albums of 2011.

Thanks to Sirius XM's satellite radio programming, people across the country have been responding to her music, and music teachers have begun teaching her song "Something You Learn" to their classroom choirs. In addition to songwriting, Lori is is a teacher as well. She has taught high school English and French as well as musical theatre, classroom music, and piano lessons. Presently, she balances her songwriting career with classroom music and piano teaching.

Lori has begun taking her show on the road, starting in Portland where she lives, and expanding to other west and east coast venues over the coming year. She's also working on her next album, entitled The World Is A Curious Place To Live, set to release in July 2012. The new album focuses on one of her strong beliefs as a teacher: learning is brilliant fun!
