Mil’s Trills is an interactive series of live performances for grown-ups with babies & toddlers ages 0-4. Led by Amelia Robinson, who plays original, quirky and whimsical songs on her electric ukulele and hosts a rotating cast of musical guests. Founded on a cooperative effort to support local businesses & artists in the community, this educational and entertaining music series emphasizes the discovery instruments and aims make music accessible to all.

New to the scene, this series started in late 2010 when Amelia returned to her home in Brooklyn after a three year stint composing in the UK and performing on a man-made island in the Middle East. With the birth of a new niece, Amelia's role as an Aunt became clear - to provide a haven where exhausted, under-stimulated parents could meet each other and share music they actually like with their young babies in the early stages of sensory development. With the power of word-of-mouth, Mil's Trills grew from a small group of ten parents in Prospect Park to a dedicated following of over 600 families and counting…in one year!

The beauty of Mil's Trills is that shows are held deep within the community in unconventional settings, such as cafes, pubs, & galleries where families can get up close and personal with some of the best musicians/artists that NYC has to offer. As a platform for children (of all ages) to gain confidence through performance, musically-inclined parents are often encouraged to get involved as featured guests, as well. These weekly intimate community shows incorporate activities based on a featured instrument or art form (circus, dancers, visual artists); the reading of a hand-selected children's story accompanied by a live improvised soundtrack, interactive demonstrations, original songs/games, and a Q&A with the guest highlighting their background and current projects. For larger productions, such as the annual Winter & Summer Bash, we draw from a roster of 80 past guest musicians who play a wide range of orchestral, world, and eclectic instruments to form a full band and cross-arts performance based on a theme.

And it’s fun for grownups too!'.
