The Cat's Pajamas

The Cat’s Pajamas makes very cool music for kids, bringing a musical comedy twist to high-octane kid-rock. The Cats put on more than a concert—they invite the audience from the very first note to enter a wild, wonderful world of stories, dance, puppets and props, all backed by a band making great music that just happens to be for kids. Up and down the East Coast, The Cat’s Pajamas captures the imagination of children while thoroughly engaging their adults.

The Cat's Pajamas are celebrating the release of Backseat Driver, the brand-new studio album! Backseat Driver delivers family fun on wheels — 11 songs for wiggling, singing along, and playing over and over. The album follows hot on the heels of their new live concert DVD, Pajama Party, released in May 2011.

Combining backgrounds in children’s theater, musical theater and early childhood music education, lead singer Janet Schreiner’s instant connection with audiences makes the Cats a favorite everywhere they perform. Educators rave about the band’s literacy-centric assemblies “Reading Rocks” and “Cat Tales.” Presenters from Massachusetts to North Carolina book them for the crowds they attract and the electric performance they deliver.

Since 1995, The Cats Pajamas have been dazzling audiences at venues including the Kimmel Center, Sesame Place, World Café Live, Sunoco’s Welcome America, Musikfest, Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Ocean City Music Pier.

The Cats also take their show on the road to such national touring venues as The Regent Theatre, Boston; Eric Carle Museum, MA; Williams College Museum of Art; Jammin’ Java, VI; Edgecombe College, NC, and Infinity Hall, CT and are on the play lists of children’s radio shows across the country.

See why Bill Harley, NPR commentator and Grammy-winning children’s musician says: “The Cat’s Pajamas makes great music for everyone in the family – even dads. Listen to them and you’ll find that common ground where all humans live and play – regardless of their age. It’s a great place to be.”

“Fantasmical, engaging, energetic, captivating. The Cat’s Pajamas lit up Central Park and a crowd of 50,000 at The Ultimate Block Party.”
Kathy Hirsh-Pasek, Co-organizer of The Ultimate Block Party

“Leading The Cat’s Pajamas is Janet whose ability to whip kids into a pleasurable frenzy places her among the foremost performers in the children’s music genre.”
Patrick Brogan, artistic director, Musikifest
